Krystal Lavenne

Krystal Lavenne has been writing since middle school, daughter of a Susan Stark, a Quaker folk singer/songwriter. She’s written for and with the likes of Shaggy, Snoop, One Direction, Talib Kweli, and Beyonce, to name a few. As her nickname suggests the Bawse Ballerina is both raw and refined. She’s an athlete, radio/tv host, actress, model, and a songwriter and poet. Although mostly cathartic, with her poetry she hopes to inspire, entertain, and invites her audience reflect as well. She’s currently working on her first book, still untitled, and a screenplay as well.

What if Bare-bones necessities are not enough
We collect
we acquire
We force ourselves to cleanse
to Purge
Our desire to self determine using stuff
A blue blouse
Eyeliner
Too many shoes
We splurge
p
What if we lived out of motels
What if we could take nothing
No farewells
Would the picture in our mind define
Enough of our past to be fine
Simple
Empty
Ample
Plenty
Describe yourself without things

I’m simply obsessed with both halves of you
Both of you get me going both of you turn me on
I feel like I’m cheating when the other one’s gone
We’re proper pristine predictable
Then it’s dirty dangerous despicable
p
Exciting exhilarating intoxicating
Then safe and sweet soft and neat
p
I’m left feeling like I might be the fool
Like you know each other and let me think I break the rules
