a mania

I am so wretched it makes me fuckable

ppppppppppppI am poured out and wind-whipped in the backseat of your car

I am erotic in my phobia—in that I fear you

ppppppppppppppppppppppppthe way you fidget when I’m near

ppppppppppppppppphow bad your want is

pppppphow I was made to be had — or was I?

how there is a god sound from outside that we can never have

ppppppppppppppppppnight is coming & of blood particle; night is lasting longer by the day

the eternal room all shadow and hum and the lamp outside glowing for passersby

ppppppyou are turned on by our bloodbond, which is the pact of death

how the dark is our permission; how other lovers make only music or water

pppppphow your face changes when I am near; red teeth and slanting head

listening in perpetuity to a song                                              a song that fucks you from the inside

pppppphow you were the keeper of the flesh

ppppppppppppppppppmy giant, violence                          god save my love

ancestral

My body in a boat           the middle of the lake

ppppppthe lacquer there looking up at me

& looking up

there is a beast

black as slate                    a ritual stillness

the island humming      its shutters ripe and closed

he understands the way wood cuts through water

ppppphow liquid I am

both unseeing

ppppppppppppwaiting

the ghastly cannotreach, the separation

ppppppof us                      in this late hour

slick and violated            how open, my body

pppppphow sick

with difference

how lost              the without

ppppppthe root and the unrooted

I cannot love you

ppppppdespite my water.
